The story

The Clock Tower is a landmark in the centre of Dehradun, built in 1953. Its design mixes European and Indian elements, with a carved stone facade and a clock face marked in Roman numerals whose chimes sound at regular intervals.

A spiral staircase climbs through the chamber that holds the clock mechanism to a viewing level. From there the streets running toward Paltan Bazaar and the hills ringing the city can be seen. The tower is lit up during festivals and city celebrations.
