Chunnambar Boat House

The Chunnambar Boat House lies near the mouth of the Chunnambar River, where the river joins the Bay of Bengal, about 8 km south of Puducherry. Its backwaters are lined with greenery, plantations and patches of forest, and a short boat trip from here leads to Paradise Beach, a clean, sandy strip between the river and the sea.

Hire boats include paddle boats and motor boats, and jet skis and kayaks are also available. Cruises leave the boat house for Paradise Beach, where people swim in the calm water, sunbathe and play beach games. The area draws a range of bird species, particularly in the migratory season, and the surrounding plantations are used for nature walks and photography.
