01 — The story

Bhimambika temple, also called Bheemavva temple, combines a temple with a popular mutt in Itagi, a temple town in Ron Taluk of Gadag district, Karnataka. It lies about 13 km from the Kalkaleshwara temple at Gajendragad.

The main deity is Bhimambika Devi, a Shiva Sharane, or devotee of Shiva. The mutt has stayed within her family, and the eighth generation of its members are the ones currently looking after it.
