The story

Baghmara Pitcher Plant Wildlife Sanctuary lies near Baghmara in the South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, 112 km south of Tura. Also called the Baghmara Reserve Forest, it protects pitcher plants, and the state government declared it a wildlife sanctuary in July 2022, with 1.19 square kilometres notified for the purpose.

The plant at its centre is the endangered Nepenthes khasiana, known locally as Me'mang-Koksi, or ghost basket. Its population here is what the sanctuary is known for.
